2009 SPRING CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW & ROT
11 October 2009
JUDGE: MRS CHERYL LENT (USA)
My overall impression of the Vizslas was positive. I felt the condition of all the dogs was outstanding – coat condition and temperaments were very good. The quality of the puppies and baby puppies bodes well for the breed – good feet, strong bone and good bites prevailed. Overall, I had lovely heads and expressions. Strong toplines prevailed with many proper backlines and the slight rise over the loin was apparent – WELL DONE. Proportions were overall accurate and balanced – movement good.
In my humble opinion; you need to bring down the height as I found many entries too tall and heavy for what your Standard describes. Also be cautious of over angulating your dogs – remember these are not Weimaraners or German Shorthaired Pointers. They are a more moderate Gundog that, again in my opinion, should not display high side gait or size.
I found the strength in the dogs. You must prevail to bring higher quality to your bitches.

“Both dogs good quality”
1st – Kimlise Antaeus Sirchancealot (Richards)
Baby Puppy In Show
Young bounding puppy. Good tail-set, lovely head, moderate angles, good temperament, correct in bone.
2nd – Hungargunn Bear It All (Cragg)
Good in temperament and bone. Good shoulder and return of upper arm. Drier neck preferred, and would prefer not as long in loin. Overall pretty.
1st – Hanafor Cafefi Rhys (Alderton)
Puppy In Show
Proper proportions, good bone. Really like this dog’s front and rear angles. Good tail-set, lovely balance and neck to shoulder set. Pleasing dog who needs some training.
1st – Ch Graebrook Lord Ofscandal (Graebrook Kennels)
Reserve Challenge Dog / Junior In Show
This dog filled my eye. In my opinion a beautiful head and good breed type. Correct angles front and rear, properly balanced, beautiful head.
1st – Palaway Metropolis (Macken & Hanney)
Proportioned. Carries himself well on the go round, wide coming back to me. Would like more return of upper arm to elbow.
1st – Ch Belabartok Always Jethro CD TD ET (Taylor)
Challenge Dog / Australian Bred In Show
BEST EXHIBIT IN SHOW
He filled by eye. Correct breed type. Lovely neck set. Lovely head and tail set. Correct front and rear angles, very balanced. Very beautiful breed type.
2nd – Ch Tanashka Magus Krakajak (Quinn)
Slightly less in all areas to the first dog. A little wet in neck. Beaten by overall breed type of first dog.
3rd – Ch Tanashka Korona Ace (Pollock)
Carried himself well, lovely head. I felt that there was too much angulation front and rear for a Vizsla. Covered ground well.
1st – Ch Tanashka Acepak Herman (Quinn)
Open In Show
Good proportions, proper angles front and rear. A bit too tall for a Vizsla in my opinion.
2nd – Ch Hungargunn Hyperno (Cragg)
Better front and rear angles. Lovely neck to shoulder. Topline was a problem going around.
1st – Hungargunn Bare Naked Lady (Cragg)
Pretty baby girl, first time in the show ring. Good size, lovely head – shows promise.
1st – Gamecall Bellbrook Georgiana (Staples & Taylor)
Minor Puppy In Show
Pretty puppy who is in a growth stage. I can’t tell by her movement as she’s being difficult; looks like shows promise for the future. Outgoing temperament – fun.
1st – Graebrook Superstition (Graebrook Kennels)
Proper balance front and rear, very pretty head. Good tail set and carriage. Moved quite well on the go round, would like to see in slightly better condition with a harder topline on the go around.
1st – Ch Tanashka Osi Aggie (Quinn)
Challenge Bitch / Intermediate In Show
RUNNER-UP BEST EXHIBIT IN SHOW
Pleasing angles front and rear. Very pretty head. Proper bone. As tall as I like to see.
2nd – Ch Gamecall Weatherby Viva (Hine)
Reserve Challenge Bitch
Same attributes as first. Less of a topline on the move.
3rd – Hungargunn Dances With Wolves (Owen)
1st – Ch Tanashka Magus Taita (Hine)
In my opinion, she is proportioned front and back, and balanced, not overdone. Pushing taller size for a bitch.
2nd – Ch Palaway Ana Bonilla (Macken)
Similar attributes, but has less in front, a little wide on the down and back. Shorter in muzzle.
3rd – Ch Tanashka Magus Lana (Quinn)
I didn’t find the rise in the right place. She didn’t use herself well. Has a pretty head piece.
1st – Gr Ch Graebrook Dzina Mzooni (Graebrook Kennels)
Absolutely the tallest I’d accept in a bitch. Very balanced front and rear, with a very pretty head. Has the more moderate angles that I believe the Standard calls for.
2nd – Ch Tanashka Dzsentri Klara (Quinn)
Quite balanced. I didn’t care for her head, otherwise a pretty body and carried herself well.
